An intentional community for those that are passionate about food issues and food advocacy.
The Mount Hope at Kennedy Park (MH@KP) Community is a new initiative of the South Coast Mission Hub that offers a low cost housing option for young adults that are interested in living in community and are dedicated to food advocacy in the local community. In exchange for a small monthly donation and 8-10 hrs/wk of service, residents will receive a furnished private bedroom in a house in Fall River, shared bathroom and common areas and kitchen, and all utilities (including cable and wifi).
MISSION OF MH@KP
The Mount Hope at Kennedy Park Intentional Community exists to create a community of both residents and leadership team members who are committed to relationship, collaboration, spiritual life, and food justice. We envision a house made up of dedicated permanent residents who live in a covenanted relationship with each other, supported by a leadership team of local community and church members. The hope is that these two groups will work together to help fulfill the South Coast Mission Hub’s larger mission of cultivating justice and vibrancy on the South Coast of Massachusetts.
The hope is that the Mount Hope at Kennedy Park Community will hold the shared vision of food—food justice, food advocacy, food sovereignty. Though MH@KP will have this food justice focus and mission, the exact nature of the work for that mission could take a variety of forms depending on the skills, passions, and talents of the residents. Possibilities include creating a community garden at the 496 residence, assisting with establishing a mobile farmer’s market, helping with existing food pantries and feeding ministries, and/or working to establish collaborative efforts
between the various of food advocates of the South Coast.
